REVELATIONS FOR TODAY by Pastor Michael Obata
John 5:24 – New King James Version (NKJV)
24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
Now that we have made Jesus Christ the Lord of our life, it means our old self died with Him on the cross and now we are a completely new spirit being resurrected in Him. This transformation is described as becoming a new person in Christ, born of GOD (2 Corinthians 5:17). Galatians 2:20 states, “I have been crucified with Christ; now Christ lives in me, and I live by faith in Him who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Glory to GOD! It is no longer the old you but a new spirit being with the power of GOD at work in you. For GOD has placed us together with Christ Jesus at HIS right hand in the heavenly realms. And you have become a partaker of GOD’s divine nature. This means you have overcome spiritual death brought about because of the sin of Adam in the garden of Eden. You have now passed from death to life in CHRIST. For GOD has given you everything pertaining to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).
In the theme scripture, CHRIST JESUS is letting us know that as HIS disciples our focus, primary objective, and priority is to dwell in HIS WORD (found in the bible), that shall make us to be fruitful and partakers of the divine nature of our heavenly FATHER. Eternal life is in the word of GOD. And in the theme verse, CHRIST is making us understand that this is extremely important. The word of GOD produces the righteousness of GOD for it is the power of GOD unto salvation (Romans 1:16-17). As important as the cares of this life such as socialising, career, family, financial and material needs, we must understand the practice of the WORD of GOD must come first place in our hearts (1 John 3:9-10). We are to seek first the kingdom of GOD and righteousness, and all our hearts desires and needs will be added unto us (Note: not struggle for them but added unto us).
The emphasis in the theme scripture is that, not abiding in the Gospel (word of CHRIST) and putting our trust in the LORD is to become spiritually dead (that is come into judgement and condemnation). As Christians we are not of this world; our focus therefore is to fulfil the will of GOD for our lives. And not in any way allow the affairs of this world to distract, derail, or make us inefficient in the things of GOD.
Believers should not view God as merely fulfilling personal desires; our purpose is to glorify Him. By focusing on Christ’s example through diligent study and meditation of the scripture, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we gain spiritual wisdom and grow fruitful in life. The WORD of GOD gives life to our spirit, soul and body. And it is able to make us prosper and have good success (Joshua 1:8). For the WORD of GOD in our heart and lips brings to manifestation every promise of our Heavenly FATHER. Our hope lies not in worldly systems but in GOD alone, looking forward to rewards for faithfulness both here on earth and eternity. Praise GOD!
