Psalms 119:130 – English Standard Version (ESV)
130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.
Christians are the light of the world because we are born of light. GOD is light. 1 John 1:5 – This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all (NLT). In Christianity, light is commonly used to describe a good and positive situation, circumstance or environment. The WORD of GOD is commonly referred to as light. For in the WORD of GOD therein lies wisdom, knowledge and understanding. This is a spiritual principle. When the word of GOD is imbibed in our spirit man, our spirit is illuminated with the light of GOD that causes every form of darkness to flee from us. We become the solution to the darkness of this world and men look up to us as saviours. This is the mind of GOD for us. Matthew 5:14 & 16 says “You are the light of the world…. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (NIV).”
Interestingly, the first character of GOD to be revealed in the bible is to turn a dark situation into light. Genesis 1:2-3 says “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 Then GOD said, “Let there be light”; and there was light (NKJV).” As Children of GOD let us be imitators of our FATHER and transform dark situations in our sphere of influence into light. Let us be the solutions to problems that our LORD JESUS Christ says we are in this world. Proverbs 4:18 – the path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day (NIV). Having been made righteous in Christ Jesus let us renew our minds with the WORD of GOD that can make our path in life a shining light.
An important principle is revealed in the bible in the first chapter of the book of John: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him, all things were made, and without Him, nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. If you face a challenging situation (darkness) in life, all you need is the light of GOD’s Word – revelation knowledge. The entrance of light causes a child of GOD always to know the right path to take in life and not to be confused (Psalms 119:105, Matthew 22:29). When your spirit becomes illuminated with that WORD for that situation or challenge (sword of the Spirit) you will then overcome that dark situation and be victorious, this shall cause men to see the Glory of GOD in your life.
The entrance of the light from GOD’s Word gives the Grace and the anointing to overcome the negativity of this world. GOD is more interested in giving you HIS Word & HIS SPIRIT. This you receive through constant meditating on the scriptures & praying in the Spirit. Through HIS Word & HIS Spirit in you, you shall overcome the darkness of this world and be all that GOD has destined for you to be – a prosperous & successful Child of GOD. Therefore, arise from spiritual depression because of darkness to a new life deep in the WORD of GOD, for Christ is in you and you shall continue to shine, and the glory and brilliance of the LORD shall rise upon you. Praise GOD!
