Power in Meditating

REVELATIONS FOR TODAY by Pastor Michael Obata

Psalms 1:2 – New King James Version (NKJV)

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night

Meditating is a conscious effort to focus one’s thoughts on something so as to understand or comprehend it deeply. Meditating on the Word of GOD is one of the most important Christian principle. The success of a Christian depends on the Word of GOD in their spirit. The Word of GOD must first dwell in your spirit for it to bring to manifestation the promises of GOD in this physical world. Proverbs 4:23 (GNT) says “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.” The only way for the WORD of GOD to dwell in your spirit man is through meditation. GOD created man with a soul which contains the mind: the powerhouse of meditation. The mind (soul) is the doorway into the spirit. The mind is where knowledge is received, processed, and comprehended before it is deposited in the spirit.

Most dictionaries define meditation as the process of reflecting or contemplating on something or an issue. This is done through the mind. That is why the scriptures in Romans 12:2 say, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” The word of GOD renews our minds with the correct information that causes us to prosper and have good success. The theme scripture makes us understand that meditating on the word of GOD will cause Christians to carry out, observe, and do exactly what GOD expect from them (Joshua 1:8). When we meditate on the word of GOD, we become inundated with it to the point that our speech, conduct, and lifestyle become exactly what GOD wants it to be. The meditation process allows the word of GOD to get into our spirit and, in turn, makes us act in line with HIS Word. The information stored in a man’s spirit is exactly what comes out of his mouth. GOD designed us in a way that the word of our mouth charts the course of our lives (Luke 6:45 & Joshua 1:8 – shall not depart from thy mouth…). Meditating on the word of GOD is the process of feeding our spirit man with spiritual food (the Word of GOD). This process can be likened to the digestion process in the physical body. The digestion process starts with food breakdown in our mouths. And then through our oesophagus to the stomach, small intestine and large intestine. The nutrients necessary for the sustenance of the body are absorbed fully throughout the process. Meditating on the Word of GOD is like the digestion process, which causes our spirit man to absorb the spiritual nutrients of the Word of GOD. This makes a Christian to be prosperous and have good success.

Meditation is not a complex task; people meditate all the time: it is part of living. The issue is, what kind of information are you meditating on: is it the cares of life; the negativity prominent in the world, unhealthy materials found in various social media that take you away from the things of GOD? Or is it the WORD of GOD that causes you to be prosperous & have good success? When we delight in the WORD of GOD and meditate on HIS WORD day & night as described in the theme verse; we begin to experience the promises as stated in the next verse: “Psalms 1:3 – He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.” For in meditation, we receive from the SPIRIT of GOD – Instructions, Principles, Order & Directions (IPOD). Meditate on the Word of GOD, and you will experience the Glorious Christian life.
