Meditate on These Things

Meditate On These Things

REVELATIONS FOR TODAY by Pastor Michael Obata

Philippians 4:8 – New King James Version (NKJV)

8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

The status of one’s life is the product of their thoughts and what they choose to meditate on. The meditation of our hearts impacts our imaginations and, in turn, the creative ability of our soul and spirit. What do you meditate on? What pictures do you constantly have in your heart? Are they positive or negative thoughts? The meditations or continuous thoughts of a man impact his words and actions. This, in turn, affects his lifestyle and destiny. Christ Jesus in Matthew 12:34 says “………. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Our thoughts shape our lives. A positive attitude to life starts from the heart, and it produces a rich life.

The current system of things in the world poses a challenge to Christians and non-Christians alike. However, we have the advantage because although we are in this world, we are not of this world (John 17: 14 & 16). We have the Spirit of the Living GOD in us and with us. CHRIST JESUS said in John 16: 33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” As Christians, we must refuse to be overwhelmed by whatever challenges we may face; that is why the HOLYSPIRIT in the theme scripture admonishes and encourages us to be mindful of our thoughts and meditations of our hearts. Dwell in the scriptures and not the current challenge. When we focus on the kingdom of GOD and righteousness, it’s a sign that we have our absolute trust in GOD. Dwelling on the negative cripples a man’s faith in GOD, the peace of GOD that guards his heart, and these negative thoughts, if not nipped in the bud affects a man’s confessions and in turn their destiny, and then manifest into strongholds. Based on the theme scripture, we are admonished that our thoughts and imaginations be noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, and praiseworthy. When our thoughts are on the right material (the scriptures and every good and positive thing), we receive the peace of GOD that comes with victory. Isaiah 26:3 says,” You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You”.

Learn to control your thoughts with the WORD of GOD. Let your focus be on the ways and mind of GOD through fellowship with the scriptures (truth) and HIS SPIRIT (in prayer). Be a true worshipper: worshipping in spirit and truth (John 4:23-24). No matter how overwhelming the challenge may be right now, keep thinking and imagining a positive outcome, dwelling in the word of GOD, praying fervently with thanksgiving, and you will find your spirit stirred up in the direction the LORD has prepared for you: a way out of the challenge. So be of good cheer because you are more than a Conqueror in CHRIST JESUS. The best part is that, for a Christian, the challenge is only a stepping stone or ladder to a better life filled with the glory of GOD. GOD permitted it because it is designed to work out for your good.
