REVELATIONS FOR TODAY by Pastor Michael Obata
John 14:16-18 – New King James Version (NKJV)
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
A lot of people feel alone and overwhelmed by the challenges of life. Some Christians feel the same way. The social -economic challenges, amongst other things, of recent times have further put a lot of people under immense pressure. This makes people, and even some Christians, feel alone and neglected. It is not the desire of GOD for you to be alone and feel neglected. This is not GOD’s plan for you to take on life by yourself. HE GAVE US HIS SPIRIT: THE HOLY SPIRIT. This is the confidence we have as Christians that we have overcome the negativity of this world. 1 John 4:4 says, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” As a Christian, know and understand this truth: that you are no longer of this world but have been translated into the kingdom of GOD through and by CHRIST JESUS (Colossians 1:13).
We are not alone – THE HOLY SPIRIT ABIDES WITH YOU FOREVER. If indeed you are truly born again (born of the SPIRIT), you are now one with the LORD our GOD (1 Corinthians 6:17). Christ Jesus promised us HE will not leave us as orphans, and indeed we are not by ourselves. We now have the HOLY SPIRIT: The Spirit of truth that guides and ministers to us always and in every situation. As a born-again Christian know that even a challenging situation is designed to work for your good (Romans 8:28). Blessed be GOD that has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms through the first, HIS begotten Son, Jesus Christ. A Christian is a spirit being but with a physical body that allows him/her to exist in this physical world. A born-again Christian means you now dwell in the heavenly realms, which is a spiritual kingdom and not of this world. Some Christians do not experience this beautiful life GOD gave us because they operate with the principles of this world. To overcome the challenges of this world, you now have at your disposal spiritual weapons because we wrestle not with flesh and blood but spiritual wickedness of this world (Ephesians 6:10-18). We now must deal with the challenges of this world in the GOD-kind of way. GOD has given us HIS WORD and HIS SPIRIT to overcome every challenge.
Some Christians are overwhelmed by the challenges of life because, in the first place, they do not recognise the truth that they are from above: the heavenly kingdom. Secondly, they do not put the principles of their kingdom found in the WORD of GOD and fellowship with the HOLY SPIRIT into practice. It is like a medical doctor all dressed up in his medical gear and resumes work in an investment bank. He will be out of place and not function properly. A Christian operates by the principles of our heavenly kingdom for the HOLY SPIRIT, as the scripture puts it, “we know HIM for He dwells with us and will be in us.” We have a host of Angels that minister to us by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT in us.
As a Christian, refuse to be overwhelmed, never think you are alone because our heavenly FATHER loves you more than you can imagine, and HE desires to brag that you are HIS child and that you have overcome the challenges of this world. As Christians, we are victorious over infirmities, poverty, failure, and anything that threatens our peace. All that is required from you is to take advantage of the SPIRIT OF TRUTH that now lives in and with you and be led by HIM in all things. Not recognising this truth will result in being subject to the world’s challenges and overwhelmed by them, just like any ordinary person. A Christian is not ordinary; you are born of GOD. This makes you a god (John 10:34). Be led by the SPIRIT of GOD that dwells in you and with you, and you will experience a victorious and glorious Christian life. This power of GOD dwelling in you (Ephesians 3:20) is made active when we yield to the ministry of the HOLY SPIRIT in our lives.
